Wedding Planning Wednesday - New DIY project!

With only a little over 3 months left until the big day, I've been up to my elbows in DIY wedding projects! Right now I'm working on the tables and the centerpieces and I thought I'd share the yarn wrapped table numbers I just made! This was such an easy way to make cute table numbers on a budget and although they are time consuming and a little imperfect, I love the rustic, handmade feel they have. I won't bore you all with a tutorial, because 1) I think it's pretty self explanatory and 2) there's probably about 100 of them already out there if you need them, but I will tell you that I bought the numbers, letters, and yarn at JoAnns and one jumbo roll of ivory yarn got me through all 13 table numbers!

Inspired by this photo on Pinterest, I also wanted to make yarn wrapped signs for our table, the dessert table, guestbook table, and the bar. I really wanted one letter to pop so I used a shimmery, champagne colored yarn to contrast with the ivory letters and I love how it turned out. I also used the champagne to make the '1' for our table stand out!

Next time I'll show you guys how I'm sprucing up those mason jars to use as vases for our flowers! Everything is slowly but surely coming together! Yay! Happy Wednesday everyone! XOXO

Wedding Planning Wednesday - Mad Libs

(1, 2, 3)

I've been trying to think of a fun way to keep my guests entertained during the reception and also something to break the ice and get everyone to talk and interact with each other at their tables. I came across the idea of wedding mad libs from a wedding featured on Style Me Pretty and I think it's so fun and clever. I used to love doing mad libs in high school and if you have a fun crowd they can be hilarious!

If you aren't familiar with mad libs, basically you place a list of fill in-the-blank words (nouns, adjectives, verbs) on one side for your guests to fill out. The sillier the words the better! Then you flip the page and fill your words into the blank spaces in the story on the other side. Usually the words are ridiculous and make the story really funny. You could read the best ones aloud on the microphone during the reception and then keep them to look back on for years to come!

You can find these online and purchase them, but I think it would be better to make your own! I plan to make use of the graphic artist in the family (AKA, my sister) to help me put something together. Then I'll place one at each table during the reception and let my guests have fun filling them out together!

What do you think of the idea? Fun or cheesy? I'd love to hear your opinions! XOXO
