Friday Favorites: Happy Birthday Cayden

This Sunday, July 24th, at 12:47pm my precious baby boy will turn 1 year old. This past year has been the most overwhelming, life-changing, rewarding, and happiest year of my life. Having a child made me dig deep into my soul and re-evaluate everything about who I am and who I want to be. They say the first year of parenthood is the hardest to survive and while I agree with that statement, I must add that it is also the most rewarding. The fact that I created this baby, grew and nurtured him in my body, and gave birth to him is a miracle in itself. Cayden is truly my perfect match, he's everything I wanted and needed in a child and more. He teaches me important life lessons every day and this weekend we will be celebrating him. I want to dedicate Friday Favorites this week to my son, sweet baby Cayden, and my top 10 favorite things about him.

1. I love how you have no concept of personal space. Sometimes I think you would crawl back inside me if you could. You are constantly touching me, holding my hand, pulling my hair, and climbing all over me and you refuse to go to sleep without being snuggled first. Although it drives me crazy at times, I love and adore how cuddly you are and I treasure each and every touch and embrace. Being near you just calms me and I'm so glad you feel the same way about me.

2. Cayden, you are such a happy baby. Whenever we go on play dates or when people meet you for the first time they just marvel at how well behaved and happy you are. I think you get this from your father who always has a positive attitude. I still remember the first time I ever heard you laugh. We had just gone to the doctor's and you had to get some shots so I called out of work to stay home and snuggle you. We were laying on the couch and I flipped you upside down and for the first time I heard you crack up. I was so happy I was with you that day and got to experience that with you. I'll never forget that moment. Even when you're sick or teething you still have a smile on your face and I hope you never lose that happiness. Seeing you smile makes me the happiest mama in the world and your laugh is music to my ears.

3. I love watching you sleep, baby boy. When you close your eyes you look just like my newborn baby again. Sometimes if I'm feeling sad or upset I will just watch how peaceful you are while sleeping and it calms me. When you wake up you have the brightest eyes and the rosiest cheeks. You are so sweet and snuggly, my love. Daddy and I used to love watching you wake up and seeing your 'stretchy face' and we would race to be the first one who got to pick you up. I'll never forget the morning you woke me up by softly kissing me on the lips. It's my sweetest memory of you.

4. I cannot stop obsessing over your little baby feet. I have taken hundreds of pictures of your little toes. You have the cutest toes ever, Cayden, and when you were a newborn you used to curl them around my fingers every time I would touch your feet. I love that you still do that. I love how you laugh and laugh when Daddy plays 'stinky feet' with you. One day you'll be a teenager with real stinky feet, but for now I will enjoy playing 'this little piggy' with your teeny tiny feets.

5. Baby, I never get tired of hearing how alike you and I are. People have said you look like my clone since the day you were born. We both like vegetables more than fruit, we are both stubborn and determined, and at times, we both drive Daddy crazy! I love looking into your face and seeing my face staring back. I love seeing my mom in certain facial expressions of yours. I remember when I was pregnant I told everybody you would look just like Daddy, but I was wrong. I see so much of myself in you and it never ceases to amaze me.

6. You have the most beautiful, big, brown eyes, baby. I get mad when people say it's a shame you didn't get my blue color. You and Daddy share eyes the color of melted chocolate and I never get tired of looking into them. Every where we go people comment on how pretty they are. When you are older, every girl will envy your thick black lashes and swoon over your beautiful eyes, I'm sure of it.

7. Cayden, I know I complain about it a lot, but I secretly love how attached you are to me. You definitely love your daddy, but you are a mama's boy through and through. When you're upset I'm the only one who can calm you and when you can't sleep I just have to hold you and breath into your neck to make you fall into a deep sleep. When we're apart, I feel like my soul has been ripped in two and I cry every time I'm away from you. You rarely let anyone else hold you and while it might make your grandma mad, I love it. One day you won't want me to be around as much, and that's okay, but until then, I will treasure every day like it's a precious gift.

8. Every day I am amazed at how smart you are. You hit each and every milestone a month, if not more, early. I couldn't believe when you start sitting on your own, standing on your own, talking, and now walking. People are amazed at your strength and determination. I try to never compare you to other baby boys and girls but I want you to know how proud I am of you. I know no greater joy than seeing you succeed at something you've put your mind to. I am so, so lucky to call you my son, sweet boy.

9. I know I talk a lot about the bond you and I have Cayden, but the relationship you and Daddy have is something so special. Without truly understanding the concept of time you still know when it's 5 o'clock and you stand by the door saying 'dada' over and over. Your face lights up when that door opens and it's just amazing to see. He truly is your hero, and I know you're going to want to be just like him when you grow up. I couldn't ask for a better role model for you; your Daddy loves you so much. One day you will understand how hard he works for us and how many sacrifices he has made and your love for him will fill your heart.

10. Cayden, you make me a better person. It's as simple as that. My past is not perfect and I will make mistakes in the future, but thank you for keeping me grounded and for reminding me every day how lucky I am. Every move I make, I make for you and for our family. I hope that we always stay this close and that you will feel comfortable talking to me about everything. You have made Daddy and I so much closer, stronger, and happier. I can never thank you enough for that. Thank you for being you and for bringing our family so much happiness.

"The days are long, but the years are short." -Gretchen Rubin. A truer statement cannot be made. Happy birthday, Cayden. Love, your mama. XOXO

Friday Favorites: Pretty in Pink

Because it's gloomy outside and because I have killer cramps and a teething baby on my lap right now, I need something pretty to cheer me up. And what's prettier than the soft, feminine color of ballet pink? The answer is nothing! And just in case you are doubting me, I have come up with some proof that is most definitely pretty in pink...

Are these not the sweetest cupcakes you've ever seen? I love the ultra fancy and feminine toppers; they make my heart smile!

I'm really loving this ombre trend right now and this cake with its various shades of pink is no exception! It's almost too pretty to eat!

Pink, sprinkles, and doilies? Oh my! Not only is this a super cute and inexpensive favor idea, it's easy to put together too!

I love the idea of serving a simple drink like pink lemonade out of a fancy glass bottle like this one. The doily inspired bottle wrapper and pink ribbon are just the icing on the cake!
These pretty pink tulle wands are so whimsical and feminine; I need to have a girl next just so I can throw her a fairy party and make these!

Is this dress not the prettiest and most flattering thing you've ever seen? I love the sleeves and the way the waist gathers. I think it would look fabulous on any body type!

Such a cute and unique baby shower gift! Towels, onesies, a wash cloth and a baby spoon make this the sweetest ice cream sundae you've ever laid your eyes on!

Maybe because I haven't eaten breakfast or maybe because I'm hormonal and want to shove cupcakes in my mouth... either way, this is the most delectable cake I think I've ever encountered!

That's all for now! I'm off to cuddle my almost 1 year old (!!!!!) and watch some classic Molly Ringwald movies. Happy Friday everyone! XOXO

Domesticated Delight Halloween Event - Giveaway #7

As you guys surely know by now, I am a bit obsessed with baby girl accessories. Specifically flower headbands, little hats, and sweet hair clips. I just think they automatically add so much cuteness to an outfit! Now don’t get me wrong, I think there is a fine line between having a boulder attached to your child’s head and having a sweet little flower or bow which is exactly why I was happy to find Allison over at the BabyDo Etsy shop. Allison has been making headbands, hats, and hair bows for over 7 years. She started her business when her and her husband was stationed on Okinawa, Japan with the military and has been doing it ever since! She started her Baby Do Etsy shop this summer to focus specifically on baby accessories and is working to expand it to include toddlers and young girls. And you can customize anything you like to the color bow you want and the size you want! I also love how reasonable her prices are. Domesticated Delight Halloween Event - Giveaway #6

Some people think I’m crazy for wanting to decorate the house and celebrate each holiday in full force for Cayden when he’s only a few months old and likely won’t remember it, but I think it’s important to start these celebrations at a young age. I want him to love and embrace holiday spirit as much as I do and look forward to them year after year! I found the Two Girls Laughing Kids shop when searching for Halloween baby items for Cayden and saw their adorable handmade bibs. I love the vintage look they have to them and I was so excited to learn that they would love to participate in this Halloween giveaway event.

The mother and daughter duo from Two Girls Laughing, Two Girls Laughing Kids, and Two Girls Laughing Too share a love for sewing, knitting, and quilting and of course, laughing (one guess how they came up with their name!). Their shops vary from handmade items to vintage items to crafting supplies and it’s plain to see that they embrace the holiday spirit as much as I do. Check out some of their adorable Halloween and Fall inspired items.

I love this festive Ghost dribble bib from Two Girls Laughing Kids. And 2 gold stars for being extra large to cover all spills and dribbles!

I’m a little bit obsessed with this Fall inspired tea towel from Two Girls Laughing. The colors are SO vibrant and begging to decorate your kitchen!

You can tell that their handmade items are top quality and made to last. It just goes to show that items can be pretty and useful at the same time!

Are you ready to WIN?!? The winner of this giveaway will receive TWO ITEMS! The first is an adorable Frankenstein dribble bib perfect for your little monster! The second is a pumpkin patch tea towel that will fit right in your festive kitchen!

Domesticated Delight Halloween Event - Giveaway #3

Even though I love and ADORE my baby boy I also want a little girl of my own someday. I think I’m pretty ‘girly’ myself so the idea of baking cupcakes, painting fingernails, and playing dress-up with my future daughter thrills me and I hope I get the opportunity sometime soon! (I’m still getting used to the idea that I’ll be playing with dirt and bugs with Cayden some day… good thing I already love sports!) Until that day comes I spend my time torturing myself by spending hours looking at all the cute little hair bows, dresses, and best of all RUFFLE BUTTS for little girls! In my masochistic search I stumbled upon Danica’s sweet Etsy shop Dreaming of Stitches and I instantly fell in love! Danica specializes in onesies (Gerber brand, 100% cotton) made custom by sewing on sweet little appliqués and blinged out with Swarovski austrian crystals. The best part of her onesies? RUFFLE BUTTS! Who doesn’t love a baby with layer upon layer of ruffle on her booty? Adorable. To top it off, she also custom makes matching headbands creating a sweet outfit for your little one! Danica also makes the cutest baby leg warmers (I’m obsessed) as well as hats and other sweet odds and ends! Plus all of her items are made in a smoke free, pet free home so you don’t have to worry about icky smells, fur, or allergies! :)

A little bit about Danica:

I am a stay at home mother of two cute little girls. I like to blog, digital scrapbook, sew, quilt, cook, water ski, and geocache. I started sewing when I was 8 years old and crocheting when I was 10. I love to sew as a hobby and for the fun social aspect of it. I grew up sewing with my mom and grandmother to make dresses and family quilts and plan on teaching my girls to sew when they are old enough. My cousin has an Etsy shop, Skye O Shop, selling designer purses and bags (http://www.etsy.com/shop/skyeoshop). I decided I should give it a try and started selling things on Etsy last spring. My Ruffle Bum Onesies have really been the biggest hit and they look really cute paired with leg warmers for the fall and winter. I love designer fabric especially Kate Spain and Anna Maria Horner. I love fun, bright, colorful designs and fabrics that are out of the ordinary.

Here are some adorable things straight out of her Etsy shop:

Leg warmers! I'm a sucker for argyle...

For sale!

So because I've been forced to take my maternity leave a few weeks earlier than I thought I would, I thought I'd take the opportunity to sell some of my gently used maternity clothes and a few extra items we have and don't need to try and make some extra money. I know a lot of my followers are single moms or moms living on a budget so this is a good chance to get some things you might need for a good price.

Prices are below, but please keep in mind that I'm willing to work with you so make me an offer! Everything is first come first serve and I want to get rid of this stuff fast! It's been posted in a few other places as well so make your offer as soon as you can! Also, everything comes from a smoke free/pet free home :)

PANTS:

These were my favorite pants all throughout my pregnancy. They don't have a full panel but they do have an awesome stretchy band that makes them super comfortable. They are a size 6 regular and stretch type of fabric which is great to grow in. They are a low rise boot cut from Old Navy. It's a pretty dark wash which I love. They are in awesome condition with no tears or stains. I'm asking $20 for them.

These pants are also from Old Navy and they are also a size 6 regular with stretch fabric. They are a bit of a lighter wash than the pants above and a capri cut with a cute little rolled cuff at the bottom. These pants have a full panel which is great for support of your growing belly. They are also in great condition. I'm asking $20 for them.

These pants are from Target. They are a size 6 with a full panel made from this great stretchy material which was SO comfortable. They are a darker wash and have a bit of a wide leg/flare going on. I only got the chance to wear these a few times and they are in great condition. I'm asking $15 for them.

SHIRTS:

This shirt is from Old Navy and is a size medium. Please keep in mind that their sizes run pretty big, so this fit me well throughout my 3rd trimester. The picture does not do it justice. It's so cute and comfortable made from a stretchy navy blue material. It has a cute drop waist detail on the bottom that ties on the side. I'm asking $7 for this.

This shirt is from Motherhood Maternity and is a size medium and the tags are still attached. This was my absolute favorite shirt - it's so pretty in real life and would work for a casual day with jeans or be dressed up for the office. I was so sad I didn't get a chance to wear it. It also has a tie that can be worn in either the front or the back. It does have a low cut in the front so you would probably want to wear a cami or a tank top underneath. The original price on the tag was $34.98 and it has never been worn. I'm asking $20 for this.

This shirt is also from Motherhood Maternity and is a size medium. I loved this shirt and wore it for my maternity pictures. It has a stretchy band that works really well with your growing belly. It's all white with really cute lace detailing. I'm asking $10 for this.

Here is another white shirt from Motherhood Maternity. This one is a size large and has a really cute bohemian vibe to it. I only wore this once. It ties in the back and has loose comfortable sleeves. The material is light and cool to wear in the summer. I'm asking $15 for this.

DRESSES:

**Please note: Both of these dresses were bought from Target in the maternity/plus size section. I looked, and I can't tell if they are supposed to be 'maternity' or plus sized, but they are both empire waist and I wore both of them into my 3rd trimester with no problem. They are both a size 1 which fits like a medium or large I would say.

I loved this dress! I actually wore it to my baby shower. It has a comfortable tank top on the top that's made from a stretchy material and a black band that sits just above your belly. The bottom is made from a thinner navy blue and white striped material so it's really good to wear on a hot day! I'm asking $10 for this.

This dress is so much fun! It has cute button detailing all the way down and IT HAS POCKETS! I loved the pockets! It's super comfortable and I wore this to a 4th of July BBQ. The back has an elastic panel that stretches well if needed and the tube top stays up really well and is supportive. I'm also asking $10 for this.
